Step 2 β€” About our programs

πŸ—“ Season dates: September 2026 (start date September 7 or 14 β€” TBC) through to late February/March 2027. All divisions pause for a winter break in mid-December, resuming in early January.

All Peninsula FC youth programs follow the Canada Soccer Grassroots Standards β€” a national framework designed to give every child the best possible development environment. That means age-appropriate game formats, fair playing time for every player, and a focus on enjoyment and skill-building over results.

Active Start β€” U4 & U5

This level focuses on FUN and introducing young players to the game through creative play and fundamental movement. The primary goal is to build confidence and ensure every child has a positive first experience on the field. Sessions emphasise agility, balance, and coordination through engaging activities and small-sided games that keep kids moving and excited to come back each week.

  • Schedule: Saturday mornings
  • Location: Blue Heron Park, North Saanich
  • Fee: $225

Fundamentals β€” U6, U7, U8 & U9

At this stage, the focus is on developing individual comfort and skill with the ball. Players work on essential techniques like dribbling, passing, and ball control in a supportive and social environment. Small-sided game formats ensure every player gets plenty of touches on the ball, helping them build a strong athletic foundation while enjoying the game with their teammates.

  • Format: U6/U7 play 4v4; U8/U9 play 5v5 with Goalkeepers
  • Schedule: Midweek practices, Saturday morning games β€” U6/U7 typically Tuesday; U8/U9 typically Wednesday
  • Location: Blue Heron Park, North Saanich
  • Fee: U6–U7 $300 Β· U8–U9 $350

Learn to Train β€” U10 & U11

At this age, players begin to refine their technical skills and transition toward more purposeful team play. We introduce more structure while keeping the environment fun and pressure-free. This level emphasises technical speed and introduces foundational tactics, helping players understand their positioning and how to work together as a team across the entire field.

Starting at U11, players begin to stream into development-appropriate teams β€” ensuring every child plays in an environment that matches their current skill level and keeps them feeling both confident and challenged.

  • Format: 7v7 (including Goalkeeper)
  • Schedule: Two practices per week (Monday–Thursday), Saturday morning games
  • Location: Games at various fields across Greater Victoria; U10 may travel depending on league scheduling
  • Fee: $400 (jersey $25 + shorts $15 for players needing new kit)

Tactical Refinement β€” U12 & U13

These years bridge the gap to the full-sided game. By playing 9v9 in a league against other clubs, the game remains fast-paced with plenty of involvement for every player. This format focuses on game intelligence, supporting the ball in space, and positional fluidity.

  • Format: 9v9 (including Goalkeeper)
  • Schedule: Two practices per week (Monday–Thursday), Saturday morning games
  • Location: League play across Greater Victoria
  • Fee: $400 (jersey $25 + shorts $15 for players needing new kit)

Soccer for Life β€” U14 to U18

The Soccer for Life stage focuses on fostering lifelong enjoyment, technical refinement, and tactical understanding within the full 11-a-side game. This phase supports both recreational and competitive players, preparing teenagers for adult soccer in a safe and engaging environment. Whether pursuing a competitive pathway or playing for social and fitness benefits, every athlete is placed in a skill-appropriate setting that prioritises personal growth, sportsmanship, and a rewarding long-term connection to the sport.

  • Format: 11v11
  • Schedule: Two practices per week (Monday–Thursday), weekend games β€” U17/U18 typically Sunday
  • Location: League play across Greater Victoria
  • Fee: $400 (jersey $25 + shorts $15 for players needing new kit)
